Engaging Parents: Sustaining the Gains of Early Childhood

Approximately 40 individuals from the business and civic communities attended the Ounce of Prevention Fund's Educational Seminar on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010. This event provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about the Ounce's work and the important role parents play early in a child's life.

Debra Pacchiano, Director of Research and Evaluation for the Ounce of Prevention Fund, and Portia Kennel, Executive Director of the Bounce Network led an interesting discussion about the unique challenges families living in poverty face in their daily lives and the Ounce's commitment to partnering with parents by providing the support and education they need to help narrow the achievement gap for at-risk children.

Diana Mendley Rauner closed the event sharing with guests how the Ounce is striving to advance the early education landscape to ensure long-term success of all children.
