Head Start/Early Head Start Programs

the Ounce of Prevention Fund: Head Start ProgramAs one of only three federal Early Head Start and Head Start grant recipients in the Chicago area, the Ounce of Prevention Fund provides high-quality child care and preschool services to 1,400 children through partnerships with six community agencies. Our centers offer half-day and full-day services for children from birth to age five; a few centers also offer home-based services. The Ounce also operates a doula program for 30 women on Chicago's South Side.

Well-trained teachers in our classrooms provide the academic and social-emotional preparation that low-income infants, toddlers, and preschoolers need to succeed in kindergarten.

The Ounce also provides Head Start and Early Head Start services in our own program at Educare of Chicago.
