U.S. House Passes Early Learning Challenge Fund
September 18, 2009On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill containing the Early Learning Challenge Fund by a vote of 253-171. The Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibilities Act (SAFRA) would create the Early Learning Challenge Fund, an unprecedented $8 billion investment in early childhood education.
The fund would provide competitive state grants to expand services to children and families, provide new opportunities for professional development for staff, improve support to parents, improve use of data, and coordinate systems. Learn more about the fund.
