Educare Family Center
We started a new chapter in our ongoing work to help young children in poverty succeed in school and life when the Educare Family Center opened in 2011.
The 9,000-square-foot addition at Educare of Chicago allows us to augment our parent education activities and expand supports for children and families both before and during their transition to the K-12 system.
Education research shows that parents play a key role in sustaining the gains their child makes in early learning programs into elementary school and beyond. The Educare Family Center allows us to support parents in this essential role by offering:
- Meeting space for family support groups
- Parenting materials
- Computer workstations
The Family Center also houses the Robert R. McCormick Foundation Training Center, which will offer online and in-person professional development programs to early childhood professionals across the country.
The Ounce of Prevention Fund currently offers a robust catalog of trainings for Illinois-based providers through our Illinois Birth-to-Three Institute (IBTI). Learn more about our IBTI trainings.
